॥ Chandi Navakshari Mantra Japa English Lyrics ॥

॥ Śrī Candi Navaksarī Mantra Japaḥ ॥

॥ 1. Ṛsyadi nyasaḥ ॥

asya śrī candi navaksarī mahamantrasya ।
markandeya rsiḥ (open the right palm and touch the top of the forehead)
jagatī chandaḥ (right palm on the mouth)

durga laksmi sarsvati devata ॥ (right palm on the heart chakra)

hraṁ bījaṁ – hrīṁ śaktiḥ – hrūṁ kīlakam ॥

bījaṁ – touch right shoulder with right hand; śaktiḥ – touch left shoulder with right hand; kīlakam – touch center of the chest. The only tip of the fingers to be used.

śrī durga śrī laksmī śrī sarasvati prasada siddhyarthe śrī candi navaksarī mantra jape viniyogaḥ ॥

॥ 2. Karanyasaḥ ॥

hraṁ – aṅgusthabhyam namaḥ »   use both the index fingers and run them on both the thumbs.
hrīṁ – tarjanībhyaṁ namaḥ » use both the thumbs and run them on both the index fingers.
hrūṁ – madhyamabhyaṁ namaḥ » both the thumbs on the middle fingers.
hraiṁ – anamikabhyaṁ namaḥ » both the thumbs on the ring fingers.
hrauṁ – kanisthīkabhyaṁ namaḥ » both the thumbs on the little fingers.
hraḥ – karatalakaraprsthabhyaṁ namaḥ » open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

॥ 3. Hrdayadi nyasaḥ ॥

hraṁ – hrdayaya namaḥ » open index, middle and ring fingers of the right hand and place them on the heart chakra.
śirase svaha » open middle and ring fingers of the right hand and touch the top of the forehead.
hraiṁ – śikhayai vasat » open the right thumb and touch the back of the head. This is the point where tuft is kept.
hraiṁ – kavacaya huṁ » cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to fingertips.
hrauṁ – netratrayaya vausat » open the index, middle and ring fingers of the right hand; touch both the eyes using index and ring fingers and touch the point between the two eyebrows (ajña chakra) with the middle finger.
hraḥ – astraya phat ॥

bhūrbhuvassuvaromiti digbandhaḥ ॥

॥ 4. Dhyanam ध्यानम् ॥

matarme madhukaitabhaghni mahisapranapaharodyame helanirmita dhūmralocanavadhe he candamundardini ।
niśśesīkrta raktabījadanuje nitye niśuṁbhapahe śuṁbhadhvaṁsini saṁharaśu duritaṁ durge namaste’mbike ॥

Meaning: O! Devi!! You have decimated demons like Madhu, Kaitabha, Mahisasura, Dhūmralocana, Canda, Munda, Raktabīja, Niśuṁbha, Śuṁbha. You are eternal. O! Durga Devi, please remove all my sins at the earliest.

॥ 5. Pañcapūja (follow as per Karanyasa)


laṁ – prthivyatmikayai gandhaṁ samarpayami।
haṁ – akaśatmikayai puspaiḥ pūjayami।
yaṁ – vayvatmikayai dhūpamaghrapayami।
raṁ – agnyatmikayai dīpaṁ darśayami ।
vaṁ – amrtatmikayai amrtaṁ mahanaivedyaṁ nivedayami ।
saṁ – sarvatmikayai sarvopacara pūjam samarpayami॥

॥ 6.Śrī Candi Navaksarī Mantraḥ ॥

om aiṁ hrīṁ klīṁ camundayai vicce ॥

॥ 7. Hrdayadi nyasaḥ ॥

hraṁ – hrdayaya namaḥ » open index, middle and ring fingers of the right hand and place them on the heart chakra.
hrīṁ – śirase svaha » open middle and ring fingers of the right hand and touch the top of the forehead.
hraiṁ – śikhayai vasat » open the right thumb and touch the back of the head. This is the point where tuft is kept.
