Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is the most powerful of all the ancient Sanskrit mantras. It is a mantra that has many names and forms. It is called the Rudra mantra, which refers to the furious aspect of Shiva; the Tryambakam mantra, referring to the three eyes of Shiva; and it is sometimes called the mantra Mrita-Sanjivini because it is part of the practice of “restoring life” given to the primordial sage Shukra after completing an exhausting period of austerity.
